The Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia, Dimitar Kovacevski, at the invitation of the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Kiril Petkov, on the sidelines of the joint session of the two governments, attended the awarding ceremony of the “Worthy Bulgarians” award, which is traditionally awarded every year to several Bulgarian citizens who have great achievements and have done something good for their people and for their country.
Prime Minister Petkov presented this high recognition to the Bulgarian athletes who won a gold medal at the last Olympic games in Tokyo, as well as to two children who had been raising funds for their sick mother by selling lemonade on their own stand.
Prime Minister Kovacevski presented the award “Worthy Bulgarians” to firefighter David Galabov, as one of the winners of the recognition, who had not spared his own life to save the lives of two small babies in a fire.
“Firefighter Galabov is receiving the award for the second time, while the first time he received it together with his colleagues for his self-sacrificing participation in dealing with the floods in 2016 in my country, in North Macedonia”, said Prime Minister Kovacevski.
Prime Minister Kovacevski said that the citizens of North Macedonia will never forget the hand extended by Bulgaria both then in 2016 and also last year when our country was engulfed by fires, for which the help from our neighbors was among the first to come. Friendly Bulgaria and its medical and health workers showed exceptional professionalism also in the case with the traffic accident on the “Struma” highway, when 47 of our fellow citizens lost their lives in the horrible tragedy.
“We will never forget the sympathy and help that was extended then”, highlighted Prime Minister Kovacevski at the awarding ceremony.
Prime Minister of North Macedonia Kovacevski congratulated firefighter Galabov, and all the winners of the award, and sent a message of encouragement for solidarity and help as an obligation to return with humanity to the community.
