Asked about the situation with the living standard and the criticism of the opposition that it is falling, Deputy Minister of Finance Dimitar Kovacevski in an interview for CIVIL Press Studio stressed that one of the indicators of the living standard is the consumer basket and the relationship with the minimum wage, because here, as he pointed out, you can see what the standard is of the lowest paid in a society and of the most vulnerable.
“In June 2013, 4.05 minimum wages were needed to cover one consumer basket. In July 2017, 3.22 minimum wages were needed to cover one consumer basket, while in June this year, 2.25 minimum wages were needed to cover one consumer basket of a family. And from this it can clearly be seen how the living standard of the citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia has improved”, said Kovacevski.
Kovacevski, in the part of the interview dedicated to social justice and the living standards of the citizens, among lese, reminded that from 2017 onwards, the minimum wage has increased, salaries in the education, health sector, security sector have increased, whereas social assistance has increased by three times.
