Women’s rights should be discussed all the time and not just in these 16 days of activism, said Nora Kalikji from the “Ajo” Initiative at CIVIL’s panel “Gender Equality in North Macedonia: Between Declarations and Reality”.
“The field of action of women is a narrow field, and the entire fight should focus on improving conditions of women. Women need to support each other more, instead of fight against each other. Women need to be aware that they are human beings and that we have the same rights and we must find the courage to face all the challenges and direct our goals to a fight against the injustice all around us, and in this way create a better society for all”, stressed Kalikji.
She outlined that the “Ajo” Initiative has grown into an internet portal where texts on women’s rights are published, as through an online portal, she believes it will be easier to raise women’s awareness, about their rights, education.
Kalikji stressed that these topics are still taboo in our society.
The panel is part of the project “European Perspectives” that CIVIL is implementing with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany.
