The joint Macedonian-Bulgarian commission on historical and educational issues is holding Thursday and Friday the 14th meeting. It is the third meeting out of the five planned to be held this year.
At the 13th meeting of the joint commission, held online on April 23-24, no progress was made after the commission members had discussed Macedonian seventh-grade textbooks. The Goce Delchev issue wasn’t opened at all at the request of the Bulgarian experts.
In a statement after the meeting, Dragi Gjorgiev, head of the Macedonian team of the joint commission, said the two sides had remained on the same positions. The main reason for producing no results, according to him, was the different views on the medieval era as well as major differences over the approach to settle such disputes.
A press release on what has been achieved at the joint commission of experts is expected after the two-day meeting is concluded.
