New parliamentary elections if VMRO-DPMNE collects 61 MPs

The President of Parliament, Talat Xhaferi, in a briefing with journalists stated that the Parliament cannot be dissolved without a technical government being formed. In regards to VMRO-DPMNE’s initiative, Xhaferi said that it would be put on the agenda after the parties agree and form a technical government according to the Przino Agreement. This according to Xhaferi is a legal obligation, while VMRO-DPMNE have as a second option to collect 61 MPs and to initiate direct dissolution of the Parliament.

Presidential elections are nearing

“The presidential elections will be announced on February 8 in order to respect the 90 days before the day of the voting”, stated Talat Xhaferi. The first round of voting will be on April 21 and the second one on May 5. Xhaferi also confirmed that together with the presidential elections there will be local elections in the municipalities of Debar, Ohrid and Novo Selo.

Gruevski organizer of “Bloody Thursday”

The organizer of the violent attack on the Parliament that took place on April 27, was pointed out by the protected witness to be Nikola Gruevski. This was announced for the first time by Prosecutor Vilma Ruskovska, recounting part of the testimony of the witness, namely the concluding words about Bloody Thursday. According to her statements, Jane Cento and Aleksandar Vasilevski – Ninja had been angry at the former head of the Public Security Bureau – Mitko Cavkov, because they had been working the whole time under Gruevski’s directives, and later he had left them in the lurch. The prosecutor does not reveal whether Gruevski will find himself in the investigation that the Prosecutor’s Office is yet to open.

The Prosecutor’s Office will, nevertheless, act upon the SPO cases

The cases that the Public Prosecutor’s Office is acting upon for dealing with crimes related to and arising from the content of the illegal interception of communications, will continue according to the positive legal regulations, which Special Public Prosecutor Katica Janeva and Public Prosecutor Ljubomir Jovevski discussed at today’s meeting.

Following yesterday’s decision of the Supreme Court for abolishing the SPO, Prosecutor Vilma Ruskovska outlined that the intercepted conversations will be evidence also of the Public Prosecutor’s Office if they take over the cases.

“If you recall, when those recordings were proposed as evidence by the SPO, the court of first instance rejected them, did not accept them, but according to a decision of the Court of Appeal, they became evidence in the cases. There is no reason for that decision not to be valid, it is not important who is acting upon the case and which prosecution. We are all prosecutor’s, and a decision of the court is a decision of the court”, said Ruskovska.

Bilingualism

The President of Parliament, Talat Xhaferi, opened today’s session on parliamentary issues and continued to lead it in Albanian. This caused revolt and reactions among the VMRO-DPMNE MPs, with many of them leaving the plenary hall.

Reforms in the security sector are more than necessary, but they must be quality reforms

“There is a need for quality reforms of the security system, the Government has to recognize this and with the entire state instrument it has at its disposal, with its friends and partners from the NGO sector, to build sustainable mechanisms”, says Trpe Stojanovski, Professor at the Faculty of Security in Skopje and one of the leading experts in the field, in an interview for CIVIL Media, which will be published entirely tomorrow. “The Government definitely has to invest in a better quality with which it will address these issues”, stresses Stojanovski.

Charges also against two policemen for participating in a fight in Shutka

Two of the seven fighters that have been arrested for the incident that took place in Shuto Orizari are police officers. They are suspected of committing the crime “violence” against three people, out of which two police officers.
