Already a year has passed from Russia’s brutal aggression against Ukraine. Despite the unrelentless horrors Russia is inflicting upon the Ukrainian people in this already one-year long craziness – Ukraine will be victorious. Such brutal aggression against Ukraine, also an aggression against all peoples and societies across the world that refuse to bend to absolute power cannot, and will not end but with a defeated Putin and unfortunately, with profound consequences for the Russian people that they will have to bear for a long time. Ukraine will be victorious because we have reached the time in history that will determine our course as humanity, and the model of democracy will win, with the victorious Ukraine as its symbol, said Astrit Istrefi during his statement in conference “Ukraine: A Year of Heroism”.
Istrefi also said that Putin seems to have not yet realized that the world condemns his war of aggression against Ukraine; that him and Russia have neither friends nor allies; that even those whom Putin and Russia still consider to be on their side cannot demonstrate any support; that Putin is not only defeated but that his dictatorship will soon tumble; that it will be the Russian people to end his era, an era that will be remembered as the darkest period of time in Russia’s recent history, a source of shame for decades to come for the Russian people.
“Victory is on the side of Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelensky will continue to be the symbol of freedom and inspiration for many future generations. Ukraine united together societies and people from across the globe in this transcendent battle between oppressive regimes of the past and the bright future of humanity. It is no longer a matter of a war between two countries and one dictator’s madness, who clearly knows no shame norshows any remorse about the suffering that he had caused to the people of Ukraine and worldwide – or even to the people of his own country for that matter”, added Istrefi.
According to Istrefi, the only thing that Putin and other dictators of the same cut understand, is blind violence, so defeating them is the only way to stop them. Putin should be defeated soon. To do so, friends and allies need to continue providing full-scale and timely support to Ukraine. EU and NATO need to continue demonstrating resolve and speed up integration and membership process for Ukraine and for other countries seeking to join them. And they should not tolerate leaders of any MS nor leaders of other countries in the integration/accession process to challenge EU/NATO unity and resolve.
“Russian aggression against Ukraine is another bitter reminder for people across the world that their aspirations for freedom, democracy, rule of law and civil rights, cannot, and should notbe taken for granted. It is another reminder that dictators, dictatorship regimes, and their proxies, are a permanent and immediate threat to global peace and security. Any support for Putin and Russia is support for the aggressor. Any support for Ukraine and its people is support for freedom. Today, the few leadersthat symbolically show any sign of support for Putin and Russia, and those that seem to claim to be doing so because of the fear of possible repercussions, are equally great enemies to their people, same as Putin is.The courage and determination that the Ukraine people has been demonstrating for a year now, is an inspiration and exactly the type of courage that people across the world need to fight their authoritarian leaders and authoritarian regimes, as they are the biggest threat to their future, freedom, prosperity. Today, it is time to clearly take side with the courageous people in Ukraine who fight for their freedom in their country and across the world. Today, it is time to bravely fight Putin. It is time to take pride and say it loudly that fighting Putin is fighting for freedom. Fighting Putin is fighting for peace and for a more prosperous future for humanity”, concluded Istrefi.
