“To love your country, in which we live in, is a wonderful thing! It’s just not nice to neglect everyone else who lives around us. To hate everyone around you, especially of another nation and other people, is not a nice thing! That is nationalism that has greatly entered in our country”, says uncle Ratko Isakov, who warmly welcomed the team of CIVIL Media in his yard.
He, as a citizen, considers that it is precisely the political parties that are feeding the people with nationalism. He says that the political parties have been pressing with nationalism for 12 years, with the speech that that they are patriots and that they love their country, and that it’s the other ones who are bad. Uncle Isakov believes that nationalism is a practice of all politicians, when they are in a deadlock situation.
“They held us under a servitude with that nationalism. We are the Macedonians; the other ones are not. And the other ones, from their perspective, are not good, they are the best…And let’s be clear,
that is done by the politicians. The people, would have lived united…When, I will say, after Tito, we became independent, it’s as if we wanted to maintain the state with nationalism”, he says.
“And for every other problem”, says uncle Ratko, “they would create conflict among the people through nationalism so that they could cover up things”.
“It doesn’t mean that a patriot has to destroy the other one. Patriotism is to love and build the country, to build relationships among people, to be peaceful…, it’s just that our mentality is not like that…The way we are, we destroy each other…and how do we change this? Everything revolves around the parties…we need to enter a circle, like the opportunity we have where we are striving for EU and NATO, in that type of circle, where those who lead us, the parties, need to change their mentality, to have a tutor over their heads, to have someone tell them some things…”, said uncle Isakov considering that here where we are there is no success.
