Is Europe swapping North Macedonia?

Sunday morning “chat” with my colleagues…

by: XHABIR DERALLA

Sunday Morning, November 7. The day begins with Ocean (Goldfrapp feat. Dave Gahan) and with communications with the teams on duty for media production and monitoring. The teams are colorful on all grounds. These communications are also a chance for exchanging opinions on current developments and on organizational issues. And what else would we be talking about on an official communication channel?

I turned on the 60-minute Röyksopp – Björk – Jan Blomqvist (Mix by Irakli M) and entered a discussion.

“It’s horrible, the uncertainty is killing. I hope that it’s a plan with a bigger picture. I keep thinking there’s some plan and that all this is just a bad dream” – a colleague of mine writes, our comrade from the Colorful Revolution.

“If you’re referring to the international community, there is no plan. We’re left on our own” – I replied and went back to (Dave Gahan, Soulsavers – Metal Heart).

Russian show

“Well then, let them enjoy a Russian show in the Balkans” – she says. I don’t know what to say. I remember the superb text of Augustin Palokaj in the Croatian “Jutarnji list” titled “The EU has betrayed many countries, but none like North Macedonia”.

“They don’t care” – I wrote, though I’m aware that the situation is far more complex for such a one-sided opinion, so I add: “Balkans for gas and a pact for non-aggression”. Oops, I’m not sure that I’m going in the right direction with this too.

“I’m aware about the international community. They are behaving terribly with us. But it will backfire on them” – writes the colleague.

The bigger ones eat the smaller ones

“Nothing will backfire. That’s their scheme. If they don’t keep us in their zone of influence, they will swap us for their own interests” – I replied, disappointed.

“Awful! Well then what’s the point of anything?!” – writes my colleague revolted.

“There is no point. That’s that. A policy where the bigger ones eat the smaller ones, no matter how much the smaller ones are trying” – I wanted to write her. Slowly I started to realize that in such a communication a person cannot fully and relevantly express his own views. Important points can easily be left out. That’s why I decided to move on to “our” ground without any special introductions.

“We too need to do something. The behavior of the international community is somewhat logical and normal. Look at the election results. In other words, we are not a colony. We choose what we want by ourselves. Don’t we want a democracy? Don’t we want a multicultural society and a stable state? Bujrum – I wrote on the keyboard of the phone. Send…

Everyone is disgusted by Bulgaria

“We probably don’t even deserve to be part of the EU with all the weaknesses and with such political culture. And the comparison with Hungary, Bulgaria and other countries that note illiberal tendencies in politics is not at all an excuse. Why would Brussels want another country in a series of problematic countries in Europe? Like Bulgaria, for example, with which everyone is already disgusted” – I say to myself. Just as I started writing this, my colleague, as if she were reading my mind, started with an avalanche of assessments aimed locally. I will convey them entirely, even though I may not agree with some qualifications and generalizations.

“Yes, but that’s because we are very soft. Honestly. We are allowing distortion of the real picture. Vmro are bandits, born criminals, that’s their matrix. They make plots against each other, but they protect each other. We don’t. And the elections are the result of that. We are those – who talk politics 4 in the morning in taverns, where they talk about the name, about “death for Shqiptars” and other stuff. That’s who we are –the bottom. They don’t want progress; the way it’s being served on a plate. Patriotism and nationalism – that’s what gets them going.

“Can I use this chat for a text?” – I asked her.

Hyenas

“Feel free” – she relied and continued: “Democracy? Well, a piece of paper traveled from the Ministry of Culture to the Ministry of Finance for 4 whole months in 2018. A friend of mine is a living witness. They hid it! That’s the kind of matrix we’re talking about! They’re installed everywhere, like hyenas. Even in theatres there are people from Macedonian forests…” – my colleague was numbering.

“I see here there is material for more texts” – I replied and started on this text, while Dave Gahan, Soulsavers – All of This and Nothing was playing.

Certainly, we also shared some thoughts about the resignation of Zaev, but we have already had much about this, and certainly there will be much more. Otherwise, the communication continued on more boring, internal topics.
