Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski said Friday that all DUI officials, who celebrated party leader Ali Ahmeti’s birthday without wearing masks or social distancing at the new building of the Ministry of Political System, have been fined.
“It’s key that the institutions are functional and that everyone is held accountable regardless of whether they might be government officials or not,” he told a news conference.
Fines for health safety protocol breach amount to EUR 20.
“Everyone sitting at that table has been fined. Concerning the fining of state officials, no one can find fault with me and the ministry I’m managing. Everyone has been fined, the prime minister and ministers, for making a breach,” Spasovski stressed.
He added that charges have been also filed to the Public Prosecution’s Office.
The Minister mentioned that a protocol, defined by the Commission for Infectious Diseases, has been in place for the institutions to organize indoor meetings.
The breach of health protocols came to light after Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani posted a photo on social media of the birthday celebration with several key ministers from DUI and MPs in attendance.
