“Normalization of the relations between Russia-supported Serbia and Montenegro, would be problematic for Washington, since then they would lose their stronghold in the Balkan region, which additionally would harm the already reduced presence of NATO in the Adriatic Sea” – conveys the Montenegrin internet media outlet AntenaM a text from TFI Global, an Indian internet media outlet with a pro-Russian editorial policy.
Here is one transcontinental mess of a media article.
Nothing special, you will say, this is a world of global communications, everyone is involved. That is correct. Global communications enable globalization of news, but also of propaganda. In this case it’s about propaganda, a low quality one.
The headline in AntenaM says it all: “NATO has given a green light for toppling the pro-Russian government of Abazovic”. The headlines in the Indian original TFI Global is: “By sowing discord between Montenegro and Serbia, NATO has again pushed the Balkans into turmoil”
This is no wonder. A pro-Serbian media outlet reports on a pro-Russian media outlet with a claim that NATO has overthrown a pro-Serbian government. Another addition to the endless whining about how bad the West is and manages the will of the small and “naïve” peoples. And in those countries, there are always enough pro-Western “traitors” to reject mother Russia and its Balkan pets (with 50:1 votes in the 81-member parliament). “The West is bad and wants to conquer, Russia is good and peace-loving!” – more or less that’s the story.
But what is particularly funny and just as much wrong in this “Indian” film with a Russian accent, is the claim that NATO has increasingly less presence in the Adriatic.
India is far from the Adriatic…
There are six countries on the shores of the Adriatic Sea. Of those six countries, five are in NATO. Bosnia and Herzegovina is not a member of NATO, but its coastline is 20 km long (a few grains of sand, one would say). NATO conducted another gigantic military exercise in the Mediterranean that ended on August 11, where the Adriatic was also involved.
But that can’t be seen from India. And when it concerns Russian propaganda, it’s not visible neither to the Balkan media (propaganda) idlers.
