In 2022, Macedonian citizens will have four extended weekends

In 2022, Macedonian citizens will have four extended weekends. Out of a total of 11 non-working days for all citizens, five are associated with the weekend, but two holidays are non-working days on the same day. Last year there were five extended holiday weekends, and in 2020 six.

The first extended weekend for all citizens will be during the Christmas holidays, when the non-working day is January 7, Friday.

The second non-working day that merges with the weekend is April 25 (Monday), the second day of the Christian holiday Easter. There will be an extended weekend for May 1, which falls on Sunday, due to which the non-working day is Monday, May 2. On this day is the holiday Ramadan Eid.

The last extended holiday weekend is in October. Non-working day on the occasion of the Day of the Macedonian Revolutionary Struggle, October 23, is Monday, October 24.

For all citizens non-working days are January 1 (Saturday) New Year, May 24 (Tuesday), St. Cyril and Methodius, Day of the All-Slavic Enlighteners, August 2 (Tuesday), Republic Day, September 8 (Thursday), Independence Day, October 11 (Tuesday), Day of the People’s Uprising, and December 8 (Thursday), St. Clement of Ohrid.

January 6 (Thursday), Christmas Eve, the day before Christmas, January 19 (Wednesday), Epiphany (Epiphany), April 22 (Friday), Good Friday, Friday before Easter, June 10 (Friday), Pentecost are also non-working days for the citizens of the Orthodox religion. , Friday before Pentecost, August 28 (Sunday), Assumption of the Most Holy Mother of God (Great Mother of God).

For the citizens of the Catholic religion, April 18 (Monday), Easter, the second day of Easter, November 1 (Tuesday), the Feast of All Saints, December 25 (Sunday), the first day of Christmas are also non-working days.

For the citizens of the Muslim religion, July 9 (Saturday), Eid al-Adha, the first day of Eid al-Adha, is also non-working.

Non-working day program for 2022

In accordance with the Law on Holidays of the Republic of Macedonia (Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia No. 21/98 and 18/07) in 2022 non-working days are:

For all citizens of the Republic of Macedonia

January 1 (Saturday), New Year,
January 7 (Friday), Christmas, the first day of Christmas according to the Orthodox calendar,
May 1 (Sunday), Labor Day, ie May 2 (Monday) is a non-working day,
April 25 (Monday), Easter, the second day of Easter according to the Orthodox calendar,
May 2 (Monday), Eid al-Fitr, the first day of Eid al-Fitr,
May 24 (Tuesday), St. Cyril and Methodius, Day of the All-Slavic Enlighteners,

For the citizens belonging to the Roma community in the Republic of Macedonia

April 8 (Friday), International Roma Day,
For the citizens belonging to the Vlach community in the Republic of Macedonia

May 23 (Monday), National Day of the Vlachs,
For the citizens belonging to the Jewish community in the Republic of Macedonia

October 5 (Wednesday), Yom Kippur, the first day of Yom Kippur,
For the citizens belonging to the Bosniak community in the Republic of Macedonia

September 28 (Wednesday), International Bosniak Day,
For the citizens belonging to the Turkish community in the Republic of Macedonia

December 21 (Wednesday), Turkish Language Teaching Day.
