Ex-policeman Igor Spasov, sentenced to 14 years in prison for the murder of Martin Neshkoski, will continue to serve his sentence starting Friday. Idrizovo penitentiary warden Jovica Stojanovikj told MIA that Spasov was brought in on Friday afternoon and will be staying in the prison’s closed wing.
Earlier on Friday, the Justice Ministry said that Bulgarian authorities have approved North Macedonia’s request for Spasov’s extradition, following his arrest in Sofia in early February.
“At the formal request of the Justice Ministry, the Sofia City Court on February 26, 2021, made the decision to approve Igor Spasov’s urgent extradition to North Macedonia,” read the press release.
The extradition request, it added, was signed by Justice Minister Bojan Marichikj on February 10, 2021.

The Interior Ministry had issued an international warrant for Spasov for his arrest in late October 2019 after not returning to prison upon completing his medical treatment. He has seven years and three months left to serve of his sentence, the Justice Ministry said.
