Fifty houses were flooded in the village of Lazhani in the Municipality of Dolneni after heavy rain hit the Prilep region Monday night, transmits MIA.
Their residents have been evacuated, Dolneni Mayor Urim Ibeski told MIA. There were no reports of injuries amid the flooding.
The Dolneni mayor said the people evacuated from the flooded houses would be staying with relatives and friends. Ibeski said the overflowing Sazhdevska River had caused the flood.
“The cause is the overflowing river due to the storm as well as negligent construction and waste,” he said.
Teams from the Crisis Management Center and local firefighters were sent to assess the situation. They have been joined by local tractor owners who have offered their help.
