The sick and the frail, the prison inmates and the people in nursing homes are voting on Saturday as part of the mayoral elections in Shtip.
The President of the Municipal Election Commission (MEC) Shtip, Senka Andreeva said 66 homebound persons, 67 convicts and two people in nursing homes will exercise their right to vote on Saturday.
On Friday, a total of 12 people infected or self-isolating due to COVID-19 cast their vote in front of medical election boards under strict health protocols.
The first round of elections is scheduled on Dec. 13. Shtip has a total of 77 polling stations, which will be open from 7 am until 7 pm on election day.
According to the State Election Commission, 41,777 voters are registered in Voters List in the municipality of Shtip.
The elections will be conducted under strict health protocols ensuring the protection of people’s health.
The candidates Simon Polikarp of Integra-Macedonian Conservative Party, Sashko Nikolov of SDSM, Trajche Mitev, independent candidate, Goce Angelov of the Future in Our Hands coalition, and Lazar Naumov of TMRO ran in the elections for mayor of Shtip.
The elected mayor will remain in that seat for nine months, until the next regular municipal elections to be held in 2021.
