After the peak at the start of the week, the number of daily COVID-19 cases has dropped, with about 890 registered today. We are seeing this in Skopje and across the country and the pressure on hospitals is easing, said Health Minister Venko Filipche on Thursday.
Minister Filipche said the authorities were still cautious while hoping that the trend would continue.
“People aged 73-74 are to be vaccinated in the ‘Boris Trajkovski’ hall in the coming days, using the Sputnik, AstraZeneca and Sinopharm vaccines,” Filipche told reporters.
He is set to meet later today with mayors and hospital directors from six cities – Kumanovo, Shtip, Kavadarci, Bitola, Ohrid and Tetovo – where a similar mass vaccination approach will take place.
The Health Minister said a batch of 10,000 Pfizer vaccines is set to arrive in North Macedonia on April 19, followed by another one with the same quantity on April 26.
“This morning we received a confirmation from the Embassy of PR China that the 200,000 Chinese vaccines are to be expected around April 28,” added Filipche.
