Health Minister Venko Filipche met early on Wednesday with the directors of the clinics within “Mother Teresa” medical centre and discussed the capacity in the COVID-19 centres, the condition of the COVID-19 patients, the available medical staff and the possibilities and the need to expand the hospital capacities, Ministry of Health said.
In addition to the coordinator of the COVID-19 centers Dr. Dejan Dokikj, also directors of the Nephrology Clinic, Gastroenterohepatology Clinic, Dermatology Clinic, Neurology Clinic and Clinic for Otorhinolaryngology attended the meeting.
At the moment, there are about 20 available hospital beds in the COVID-19 centres and it is expected additional patients to be discharged in the coming period.
COVID-19 centre within Eye Diseases Clinic is to open on Thursday where 33 patients will be admitted, Health Ministry’s press release reads.
“The situation is serious and we are facing a powerful second wave of the virus with a growing number of patients. Our goal is to treat every patient and at the same time to provide regular services for patients with acute and chronic conditions at the clinics,” Filipche said.
