Our positions in the talks with Bulgaria haven’t changed; the Macedonian identity, nation and language are non-negotiable. We urge everyone not to stoop to insults, accusations and hate speech, which leads to nothing good for the Macedonian or Bulgarian people, government spokesman Dushko Arsovski said Wednesday.
He noted that the government was finalizing a single action plan with Bulgaria, and would find common ground on outstanding issues through dialogue.
“The expert teams from our Ministries of Foreign Affairs are in constant communication. Minister Osmani announced a new approach, relieved of emotions. This, in a way, will give an additional impetus to the process,” Arsovski said in response to a reporter’s question at today’s press conference.
The government spokesman highlighted that FM Osmani had explained North Macedonia’s positions already the previous day, adding that certain activities of the action plan could begin immediately.
“These are the projects regarding infrastructure, sports, education, information society, tourism, and other activities both sides have pledged to take part in to strengthen the friendship between the two countries,” Arsovski said.
“In the spirit of constructive cooperation, we’d like to point out the Government always communicates in a thoughtful and dignified diplomatic tone, so we’re calling on everyone to nurture language and communication that would bring us closer.”
According to Arsovski, public appearances, no matter whose, should contribute to creating a friendly environment in which solutions are easier to reach.
