Without the relevant data expected from the census, not only will it not be possible to create sustainable development policies, but we’ll become a country outside main support streams, the Government said in a press release on Tuesday.
The census is an obligation of the country as a member of the United Nations, and it is of extreme importance because the data obtained from it will provide the necessary outlines for creating effective public policies for the country’s socio-economic development, reads the press release.
Without updated and relevant data, it adds, regulated by an official institution such as the State Statistical Office, we’ll be the only country in the world that has no real, data-supported vision for its development. No investor would show interest in investing in a country that has no basic statistics on its resources for the official workforce, for the market, consumer spending, etc., the Government says.
In addition, the press release reads, the census data will provide guidelines for achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals to which the country is committed as a member of the United Nations, including the economic and social dimension, and the environment.
