The Government has decided to restrict the exports of wheat, barley, corn, wheat flour, sunflower seed and sunflower oils, news agency MIA writes.
The Government took the decision to restrict the export of these commodities as a preventive measure, in order to eliminate speculative actions by traders and producers, as well as protect national production, domestic market and citizens.
This decision has been made in reciprocity to similar measures taken by regional countries, the Government said in a press release. It adds that the country has sufficient wheat and corn quantities in private mills, which differ from the commodity reserves.
These are not quantities that cover domestic needs. Mills across the country store over 50,000 tonnes of wheat, over 10,000 tonnes of corn and over 8,000 tonnes of barley, which is owed to the rise of national production of wheat from 195,000 tonnes in 2017 to 253,000 tonnes in 2021, reads the press release.
The Government says that commodity reserves of basic products – wheat, corn, barley, sunflower oil, oil derivatives and other products – are in sufficient quantities and there is no need for further interventions.
