General Staff: Russian troops continue their offensive in eastern Ukraine

Russian troops continue their offensive in the Eastern Operational Zone in order to establish full control over the Donetsk and Luhansk region. According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in a situation report as of 06:00 on April 26.

According to the report, the Russian troops is carrying out assault operations in the Eastern Operational Zone in order to defeat Ukrainian Joint Forces and establish full control over the Donetsk and Luhansk regions and create a land corridor between the Donbas region and the occupied Crimea.

In the regions of Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod close to Ukraine, the Russian troops has strengthened the protection of the Russian border and checkpoints. Russian invaders have stepped up anti-sabotage measures in the border areas.

Near Kharkiv, the Russian troops are strengthening its grouping of troops, continuing to partially block the city and firing on the positions of Ukrainian defenders and critical infrastructure.

The invaders are trying to advance towards the settlement of Zavody. Fighting continues.

In the Donetsk and Tavriya directions, the Russian troops are moving command and control points closer to the line of combat.

The Russian troops fire on the positions of Ukrainian troops using mortars, artillery and multiple rocket launchers along the entire line of contact. In the Sievierodonetsk area, the Russian troops are fighting in the area of the settlement of Rubizhne. In the Popasna area, the Russian troops are trying to capture Popasna, the battles continue. In the Avdiivka area, the Russian troops try to conduct offensive operations and has no success.

In the Kurakhove area, the Russian troops unsuccessfully carried out offensive operations in the direction of the settlements of Novomykhailivka and Marinka. In the Zaporizhzhia area, the Russian troops are conducting offensive operations in the direction of the settlement of Trudoliubivka, fighting continues.

The Russian troops are shelling and blocking Ukrainian units in the area of the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol.

In the south of the country, the Russian troops fired at Ukrainian positions along the entire line of contact. Reconnaissance activity around the administrative border of the Mykolaiv region was recorded.

Outside the settlement of Velyka Oleksandrivka, Kherson region, Ukrainian defenders destroyed an ammunition depot and a large number of Russian troops personnel (more than 70 people were killed). The exact number of casualties is being clarified.

Russian invaders also suffered casualties in the area of Novodmytrivka and Bilousovo. The Russian occupiers continue to plunder the local population in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

Units of the Russian armed forces are attempting to conduct air reconnaissance over the territory of the Odesa region. They sustain losses.

A grouping of the Ukrainian Air Force struck ten air targets of the Russian troops on April 25, including three aircraft, four operational-tactical UAVs and three cruise missiles.

In the past 24 hours, Ukrainian troops repulsed six Russian attacks in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, destroying four tanks, five artillery systems, 13 armored vehicles, 15 motor vehicles, two fuel tankers and one anti-aircraft gun.
