The Head of the EU Delegation in the country, David Geer, in his address at the conference on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Ohrid Framework Agreement, said that the agreement was a European solution, that compromises were needed, the process was difficult, but successful. Many other countries, he said, had chosen another path that had led to disasters.
“The EU witnessed the Framework Agreement and gave significant assistance to its implementation and support to the democratic processes. We need to look forward and build a common future. The process of reforms should not go back, we are facing also new challenges that previously were unimaginable”, said EU Ambassador Geer.
According to him, the Parliament, local authorities, civil society need to be involved in building social harmony and progress.
“Efforts for strengthening the rights of smaller communities should also continue. The EU will continue to support the country and the citizens, and to see them as a future member and future citizens of the Union”, pointed out EU Ambassador Geer.
