American billionaire Bill Gates is optimistic about next year, but also expresses concern about certain issues.
Gates in his article “Causes of optimism after a difficult year” published on his blog lists several optimistic forecasts – from the possible end of the Covid-19 pandemic to the development of a meta-universe.
While the main problem in the next year is the distrust of the people in the governments.
“That is one of the issues that worries me the most as we approach 2022,” Gates said.
He stressed that politicians should be an important factor in solving the problems caused by climate change and preventing another pandemic.
– But little can be done if people reject it at the beginning. If people do not believe, they will not support big initiatives. “And when a major crisis arises, they are unlikely to follow the instructions of the authorities to overcome the storm,” Gates said.
He added that such skepticism is particularly evident in the Covid-19 pandemic, ie that misinformation about the coronavirus disrupts the vaccination program and delays the end of the pandemic.
Gates also points out that politically motivated headlines in the media, as well as on social media, have widened the gap, and he believes governments may need to “regulate” online platforms to deal effectively with misinformation.
