Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani kicked off Thursday his working visit to Spain by meeting with Maria Aurora Mejía Errasquín, EU Director and foreign policy aide to PM Pedro Sánchez to discuss North Macedonia’s European dossier and Madrid’s support to the country’s EU integration efforts.
Osmani presented the latest developments in view of the country’s reform progress with an accent on activities in the fight against corruption and organized crime. Regional relations and cooperation between Western Balkan countries with an emphasis on good neighborliness policies were also discussed, the Foreign Ministry said.
“In addition to the European dossier, the two officials also discussed ways to enhance economic relations, mutual support in multilateral organizations and sectoral cooperation between the two countries. North Macedonia’s OSCE Chairpersonship in 2023 was also discussed,” said the press release.
FM Osmani in Spain also met with the World Tourism Organization’s Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili to discuss the consequences of the Covid pandemic on tourism and projections on the dynamic for the industry to rebound.
He is also scheduled to meet his counterpart, Foreign Minister Arancha González Laya and the President of the Senate’s Foreign Affairs Committee, Antonio Gutiérrez Limones.
