Reaffirmation of the mutual commitment for continuity in building goodneighborly relations and their further enhancement towards the stability, security and prosperity of the region were in the focus of Thursday’s meeting of Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani and Bulgarian counterpart Svetlan Stoev at the sidelines of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) summit of foreign ministers in Antalya, Turkey.

FMs Osmani and Stoev discussed the prospects for progress in the process of North Macedonia’s European integration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.

Interlocutors emphasized the joint will for achievement of sustainable results in building goodneighborly relations between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia and meeting the expectations of people in both countries.

They agreed that enlargement and enhancement of bilateral relations is in mutual interest.

“We are fully committed and prepared to enhance bilateral relations with Bulgaria, increase cooperation and overcome all challenges. Bulgaria has supported North Macedonia’s NATO integration and the EU approximation of the Western Balkans. Our EU membership is in the strategic interest of both North Macedonia and Bulgaria and we are convinced that both countries and societies will find the strength to overcome challenges and misunderstandings based on European values and stimulated by the strong faith in a common future, within the family of European democratic nations,” said Osmani.

From Turkey, FM Osmani will depart for Sofia to join the Government delegation at the meetings with the Bulgarian top officials, reads the press release.
