The First Ladies Gjorgievska and Zelenska: North Macedonia will continue to support and help Ukraine

The First Lady the Republic of North Macedonia, Elizabeta Gjorgievska, had a video conversation on Friday with the The First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, the Cabinet of the President of North Macedonia announced.

Gjorgievska reaffirmed the support from North Macedonia and stressed that the state will do everything in its power to help Ukraine in various areas, starting with the acceptance of refugees, humanitarian aid, as already implemented with the Red Cross, as well as military aid equipment.

“We will do everything in our power. Education is one of the most important segments and we will continue to ensure proper integration of Ukrainian refugee children in the education system”, Gjorgievska said.

In that direction, The First Lady emphasized that North Macedonia is ready to provide adequate health and social assistance for the vulnerable categories of refugees, for persons with disabilities, as well as for students and journalists. The country has already provided 15 places for accepting children with oncological problems from Ukraine, Gjorgievska added in the conversation with Zelenska.

Gjorgievska expressed hope that the crisis in Ukraine will be overcome soon, and the Ukrainian refugees will return safely to their homes, that the country will be able to devote itself to its reconstruction, and we will continue to improve our mutual relations and cooperation.

Gjorgievska and Zelenska exchanged information on the continuation of cooperation regarding the implementation of humanitarian and social projects, with the aim of overcoming the crisis in Ukraine, as well as on the possibility of printing books and textbooks for refugee children, and assistance in providing ambulance vehicles.

In the conversation, the First Lady of Ukraine thanked The First Lady of North Macedonia for the overall support from North Macedonia so far, from political, military and humanitarian perspective, and expressed hope that it will continue in the future.

Zelenska expressed gratitude for Gjorgievska’s participation in the Second Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen, held last month on the theme “Ukraine and the World: The Future We (Re)Build Together”, which was dedicated to the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine and the restoration of human potential.

The Second Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen, which was hosted by Zelenska, was attended by 23 first ladies from the world and fifty influential persons, leaders of states and representatives of international organizations participated, and funds were donated for the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine, assistance to the Ukrainian people and reconstruction of human potential.
