The government is set to discuss at its Tuesday session changes to the health protection law in order to limit the prices for treatment of COVID-19 patients at private hospitals to Mden 40,000-305,000, Health Minister Venko Filipche wrote in a Facebook post.
North Macedonia’s Health Insurance Fund, he added, has the authority to set the upper limit for COVID-19 treatment at private health facilities.
“Regulating prices is crucial to avoid a situation where the majority of the population can’t afford to be treated at private hospitals. I’m calling on all MPs to support the regulation of prices for treatment of COVID-19 patients at private hospitals. Amid a pandemic, it’s crucial they endorse this legal solution, set to make treatment at private hospitals affordable for all citizens,” read Filipche’s post.
