orth Macedonia is expected to receive in June some 110,000 Pfizer jabs through the COVAX facility and another 80,000 directly from this vaccine producer. There are currently 180,000 citizens waiting for inoculation, 40,000 of which are over the age of 60, Minister of Health Venko Filipche told TV Telma on Tuesday evening.
He added that 500,000 doses of the Sinovac vaccine, which was approved by the World Health Organization on Tuesday, should also be delivered to North Macedonia.
Regarding fears that the population will refuse to get this shot because it was approved by the WHO last, the Minister urged citizens to have faith.
“We have to reach our goal, ensure herd immunity and change the course of the epidemic. Therefore, citizens should rest assured that all vaccines are safe and equally efficient,” Filipche underlined.
Moreover, he explained that the delay in issuing green COVID certificates is due to a communication issue with labs.
