Filipce: Emergency aid is not privatized, it is a big political spin

Filipce: New rules for entering and exiting the country will become effective in a week or ten days

The government proposed in the amendments to the Law on Health Care that the emergency medical care and the home visit be performed by private health institutions, instead of only the state one, which is now called 194. However, the law was blocked in the Parliament, because 1.200 amendments from the Left Party are an obstacle for this law to be passed.

– This is not about privatizing the ambulance, it is a political spin. Why? Because the law now clearly states that emergency medical care can be provided only by a public health institution, and the factual situation on the ground is that emergency medical and dental care is provided by private institutions. Neuromedica has an ambulance. “Zan Mitrev Clinic” has transport, “Nikob” starts now. We only legitimize what is actually happening on the ground. The private transport that the citizen now calls, he pays from his own pocket and so it will continue. The Health Fund will not take on those responsibilities. The citizens will not have any expenses that they have not had before. We are now putting into law what has been happening on the ground for years. Where is the privatization here ?, Minister of Health Venko Filipce told Sloboden Pecat.

He said that yesterday, after the meeting of the Committee on Health in the Parliament, he had a consultation with the parliamentary groups of DUI, Left and VMRO-DPMNE and explained the changes to everyone.

– We agreed next Friday, next week in the Parliament to organize a public debate on all amendments to the Law on Health Care, but I explained to all parliamentary groups that it is not about privatization and I think they understood. What should I do now that Neuromedica has emergency medical care, to close them? Tomorrow, if a private ambulance causes a traffic accident, who will be responsible for it, when they are not legally regulated, Filipce added.
