Over the past 24 hours, eight Russian enemy attacks have been repulsed in the Donetsk and Luhansk directions, five tanks, ten units of armored combat vehicles and four enemy vehicles have been destroyed, Ukraine’s Defense reported, Saturday morning. According to the report, Ukraine’s air defense units destroyed Orlan-10 UAVs [drones].

“As a result of the actions of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the enemy’s tactical company group with equipment and manpower was destroyed. In the Kharkiv region, servicemen of the Assault Troops shot down a Ka-52 combat helicopter,” Ukraine’s defense forces reported.

Several intelligence sources reported that Russians run out of tanks and decided to replenish losses with the obsolete T-62 tanks. According to the latest report of the Ukraine’s defense, such tanks have been introduced in the last 24 hours in the fighting in the towns at the Dnipro River in the Kryvyi Rih direction.

A fight for every street and home in the Donetsk region continues, with Russian forces continuing the fierce assault on Ukraine’s defense. Russians attack with missiles, multiple missiles and other artillery systems, and air force jets. Attacks are indiscriminate, both military and civilian targets are attacked.

The Ukraine Defense Forces provided another detailed report from the battle zones in the last 24 hours (until Saturday, May 28, 6 am EET).

In the Sevierodonetsk direction, with the support of artillery, Russian forces conducted assault operations in the areas of the settlements of Sievierodonetsk, Oskolonivka, Toshkivka. Russians had no success, suffered losses, and retreated to previously occupied positions, Ukraine’s sources report.

“The Russian enemy is trying to develop success in the Bakhmut direction, to reach the rear of our troops and disrupt logistics. With the support of mortar and artillery fire, it carried out offensive and assault operations in the areas of the settlements of Nahirne, Vasylivka, Komyshuvakha, and Vidrodzhenna, but was unsuccessful,” Ukraine’s forces source report.

In the Avdiivka direction, the Russian army conducted artillery attacks on civilian infrastructure in the areas of the settlements of Novobahmutivka, Novoselivka Druha, Vesele, Avdiivka, Pisky, and Krasnohorivka. It also conducted air strikes on civilian infrastructure in the Yakovlivka, Avdiivka, Vesely, and Kamyanka districts.

Ukraine said on Friday its forces may need to retreat from their last pocket of resistance in Luhansk to avoid being captured by Russian troops pressing an advance in the east that has shifted the momentum of the three-month-old war, reported Reuters on Friday.

Access is denied to the website of the Russian Ministry of Defense, but state controlled media continue spreading Russian propaganda, claiming that the Russian army is victorious. No reports of casualties and other losses on the Russian side are reported.

Russian military moves continue in the Kurakhiv direction, deploying jet and barrel artillery at the firing positions. Russians fired upon the Ukraine’s Defense Forces positions and civilian infrastructure near Marinka, Myslyvsky, and Pavlivka. In the Novopavlivsk and Zaporizhzhia directions, Russians fired upon civilian infrastructure in the areas of the settlements of Vremivka, Poltavka, Chervone, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Kamyanske, and others. The Russian air forces operated near Olhivsky, Ukraine’s army sources said on Saturday morning.

According to the same sources, Ukraine’s Defense Forces counterattacked in the areas of Novopil and Novodarivka where Russian forces suffered significant losses and retreated, Ukraine’s army source reported.
