Festive, as appropriate to the occasion. The Day of the Macedonian Revolutionary Struggle is in the sign of VMRO-DPMNE, which, after yesterday’s session of the party’s Central Committee, isn’t sure of the direction it will be going.
Judgement for VMRO-DPMNE’s internal party traitors
The leader of VMRO-DPMNE did not participate at yesterday’s session of the party’s Central Committee. In his absence, the Vice President of the party and current Mayor of Kavadarci, Mitko Jancev, and the member of the Executive Committee, Kostadin Bogdanov, were dismissed and disciplinary procedure for expelling Sasho Mijalkov and Nikola Todorov were initiated, and at the same time MPs who voted for the constitutional changes were asked to return their mandates.
The new VMRO-DPMNE Vice President, Aleksandar Nikolovski, demanded from the eight MPs who voted “for” the constitutional changes to resign from their positions, because they work contrary to the will of the citizens.
On the other hand, Mitko Jancev will sue them because, according to him, at yesterday’s press conference Aleksandar Nikolovski had made low and aggressive accusations against Jancev for threats, bribery and crime, alongside Sasho Mijalkov. Because of such insults, he demands a public apology from both Mickoski and Nikolovski.
“Otherwise, I will file private lawsuits against both of them for defamation and insulting me”, stated Jancev.
Expelling Sasho Mijalkov, Nikola Todorov and Mitko Jancev, was followed by numerous comments on the social networks, with the Twitter community being the most active.
“They sang songs to them, wrote books, painted them on canvas, tattooed them…and now they are expelling them”, “Goce Delcev is expected to be expelled from VMRO-DPMNE”, “I can’t wait for VMRO to be expelled from DPMNE, and to have it returned to history. Of course, banning its use in the future”, were just some of the Twitter comments.
News came out in the media today that the SPO had returned the passport it took away from the former Director of the Counter-Intelligence, Sasho Milakov, against whom there are several criminal charges.
The SPO denied these news: “The SPO has not passed a single positive decision on the requests for returning the passports to the persons from which they have been taken away, and against whom the SPO has filed criminal charges”.
The Criminal Court also denied the information, stating that it has not acted upon a request for termination of the precautionary measure for Sasho Mijalkov.
#Kezho
Exactly five years ago, hundreds of citizens, journalists and civic activists were prevented by police forces from holding a peaceful protest in front of the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle for Statehood and Independence, due to the punishment of journalist Tomislav Kezharovski.
CIVIL – Center for Freedom back then initiated an international campaign titled CLICK FOR FREEDOM, together with “Reporters Without Borders” – Germany, N-ost – a Network for reporting for Eastern Europe and the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network. In a joint reaction, these organizations considered that Kezharovski’s arrest was made up in order to intimidate him, but also all other media as well. Badges with the slogan Je suis Kezharovski, “Freedom for Kezharovski” and other slogans were worn throughout the country. He became one of the symbols of the Macedonian journalist uprising.
Last year Kezharovski promoted his book “Life in a box”, at which promotion all of Kezharovski’s friends were present. Kezharovski’s book is much more than a testimony to the horror Kezharovski and his family had went through.
Bright side of the day
This year Viktor Toshevski, a student with impaired vision, was awarded the best student of the theoretical department.
CIVIL Media in cooperation with citizen journalist Damjan Temkov, published several stories on Viktor, his successes, but also the daily obstacles that a student with impaired vision faces.
“Music is Viktor’s life…”, this is how CIVIL Media together with his professor of harmony began Viktor’s story seven months ago.
The story awoke the institutions, and several days after the story on Viktor was published, his school reacted, from where he received a new notebook computer.
The story of citizen journalist Damjan Temkov, professor at the State Music and Ballot School Center – Ilija Nikolovski Luj, for his student Viktor Tosevski, which caused a storm of reactions in the public, but also started awakening the institutions, was also one of the of first-place stories of citizen journalists that CIVIL awards every two months.
