The European Union is to send €261 million ($267 million) in funding to a United Nations aid agency for Palestinian refugees, news agency MIA informs.
EU funding for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) worth €246 million is to be distributed over the next three years, an EU commission statement said on Tuesday.
The funds are “to secure predictable financial resources to the agency for the provision of essential services to Palestine refugees,” the commission statement said. The bloc included an additional €15 million to ease food insecurity pressures and cushion the impact of the Ukraine war, the statement added.
