EU foreign ministers are due to discuss the latest developments in the Ukraine conflict in Brussels on Monday, following a weekend of heightened tensions in Donbass with fatalities reported by both sides, MIA news agency informs.
The increasing number of alleged ceasefire violations in eastern Ukraine is a subject of particular concern, amid fears that Russian President Vladimir Putin could use the fighting between pro-Russian separatists and Ukrainian government troops as a pretext to invade Ukraine. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba is due to attend a joint breakfast with his EU counterparts.
Other topics on Monday’s agenda include the rapidly deteriorating security situation in Bosnia, which is experiencing its worst political crisis since the end of the Bosnian War in 1995.
Ministers are also due to discuss the security situation in Mali, where the European Union must decide whether to end its training mission for the Malian armed forces following a recent military coup.
