NEWS OF THE DAY: DRAMATIC PRESS CONFERENCE IN THE SPO
“We express concern over the current developments. I would like to send out an appeal for the principle of presumption of innocence to be respected. We join the call of the public prosecutor for every person affected by crime to report such activities, and for the investigative bodies to investigate such acts. We are open for cooperation with colleagues, we are here to exchange information”, stated Lence Ristovska at today’s dramatic press conference in the SPO, after the investigation in which, allegedly, the chief special prosecutor in resignation, Katica Janeva, is involved.
Ristovska added that she hopes that their integrity will not be disrupted from the possible doubts.
Prosecutor Lile Stefanova, who is leading the case “Empire”, said that she does not fear the possibility of being involved in the investigation of the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime. She said that she does not know whether Katica Janeva should fear and that the journalists should ask her personally. Stefanova shared with the public that according to the law, no one except Katica Janeva has the right to sign a single decision, nor the opinions for release from custody, nor a decision for returning of travel documents. Katica Janeva brings and signs all decisions, that is what the law says!” – added Stefanova.
For now, the SPO has no information where Katica Janeva is, whereas Ristovska stated that she has not personally contacted her and that in the SPO they were informed right before it was published.
RACKET: TWO PEOPLE IN CUSTODY, INVESTIGATION CONTINUES
Bojan Jovanovski and Zoran Milevski suspected for receiving a reward for unlawful influence, as well as for money laundering, received a 30 days’ detention due to danger of escaping, influence over witnesses and the procedure, as well as due to the possibility of the act being repeated.
According to the Prosecutor for Organized Crime, Vilma Ruskoska, the first suspect used his influence over a public prosecutor and took 1.5 million euros from a person under investigation in order to ease his position. The second suspect had been enabling meetings with the person under investigation, which in this investigation is a witness.
Both suspects were searched, but not the prosecutor that Ruskoska refused to name. Only the cell phone of the unnamed prosecutor was taken away. During the searches, personal computers were taken away, documentation, cell phones, USB sticks and memory cards, weapons and munitions, along with a greater amount of branded wardrobe, jewellery, watches and art pieces.

Following the call of Prime Minister Zoran Zaev for a leaders’ meeting on Friday, July 19, starting at 2.00 pm in the Members of Parliament Club, confirming responses for participation came from DUI and the Alliance for Albanians.
At a press conference that Hristijan Mickoski held at the headquarters of VMRO-DPMNE today, he publically rejected the invitation for a leaders’ meeting from Prime Minister and SDSM leader Zoran Zaev.
BASIC CRIMINAL COURT TO THE BASIC PROSECUTOR” S OFFICE – “TAKE A LOOK IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD!”
The Basic Criminal Court Skopje sent out a message to the Prosecutor’s Office for them to take a look in their own “backyard”, instead of regularly and unfoundedly attacking the court and the judges after every court decision they are not satisfied with.
The Court and the judges are working according to the legal provisions, they are respecting the principle of equality of arms, constitutionally guaranteed rights and freedoms and decide based on evidence and arguments, and not based on personal wishes of the parties in the procedure, is said in the written response from the Basic Criminal Court Skopje, in regards to yesterday’s statement of the State Public Prosecutor Ljubomir Joveski.
