Upon a request from the Ministry of Health, 12 doctors and 20 nurses will, as of next week, boost army teams that are currently supporting the health system, said Defense Minister Radmila Shekerinska on Thursday.
Minister Shekerinska said police and army forces would provide security to health institutions.
“Following yesterday’s decision by the President, the Ministry of Interior and the Army are coordinating the troops’ deployment,” Shekerinska told reporters.
The decisions are taken in coordination with the Crisis Management Center (CMC), based on requirements by health institutions.
CMC acting director Stojanche Angelov explained that health institutions, emergency rooms, COVID units and probably medical storerooms are to be secured.
“The HQ, comprised of representatives from the Ministry of Health, police and army, will determine exactly where and when the army are set to support the police forces. This does not mean that all army members will be deployed tomorrow, but only as many as it is necessary at this stage,” said Angelov.
