Minister of Foreign Affairs Bujar Osmani and the President of the Civic Association “Community of Croats in the Republic of Northern Macedonia” Nevenka Kostovska signed a donation agreement to support the activities of the Community.
As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today, in accordance with the obligations arising from the agreement on protection of the rights of national minorities from the Republic of Northern Macedonia to the Republic of Croatia and the Croatian minority in Northern Macedonia, signed in November 2007 and established an intergovernmental joint commission, obliged to undertake obligations for providing the highest degree of legal protection, as well as for the preservation and development of the national identities of the minorities living in both countries.
The amount of one million and two hundred thousand denars will be used by the Association to finance the summer school for learning the Croatian language, the publication of the magazine “Croatia Rijec”, as well as other activities that arise as a recommendation from the joint intergovernmental commission.
– We have excellent cooperation with Croatia, and an important contribution to such development of relations is given by the representatives of our communities and associations in both countries, whose activities with today’s signing of the donation agreement we support. I would like to remind, and with that I thank, the valuable material and institutional support that our associations receive from the competent institutions of Croatia, said Minister Osmani.
At the meeting, Minister Osmani stressed that our country has defined high standards for protection and promotion of the rights and interests of smaller communities and that it will continue to support free political and cultural expression.
Thanking for the donation, the president of the Croatian community Kostovska stressed that the ties and friendship between the citizens of the two countries are sincere and deep, which is shown by this gesture of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Government of Northern Macedonia.
