Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs Nikola Dimitrov met today in Berlin with Michael Roth, a current member of the Bundestag from the ranks of the SDP, as part of the ruling majority and yesterday’s German minister for Europe.
“During our cooperation, I was able to get acquainted with the values he advocated during his tenure, as well as with the principled views of Germany and the consistency when it comes to completing Europe with the countries in the region,” Dimitrov said.
He added that the support resulted in the enormous strength of the efforts for the Europeanization of Northern Macedonia and endurance in the moments of disappointment from the unfulfilled European promise. Having in mind all this, Deputy Prime Minister Dimitrov is convinced that Germany will continue to act in order to strengthen the credibility of the Union, and in those efforts he stressed that Northern Macedonia will always have an ally and friend in the person of Michael Roth.
– Yesterday I left my position as Minister for Europe. I would like to express my gratitude to the Macedonians, I have many friends in the region of the Western Balkans and especially in Northern Macedonia. Your people deserve the best, and that is the EU perspective. “The new government remains committed to that, the three parties that formed the new government remain committed and we are working hard to find a wise solution to resolve bilateral disputes,” Roth said.
He sent a message to Northern Macedonia not to give up and that Brussels and the entire European Union will keep their promises.
– The people in Northern Macedonia have achieved a lot and I know it is a long and thorny road, but in the end it is worth it. The current European perspective guarantees jobs, prosperity, stability, peace, regional reconciliation and the rule of law and respect for ethnic, religious and sexual minorities. I wish you all the best and thank you very much for the excellent cooperation with my friend Nikola and many others, including representatives of the civil sector. Do not give up! Do not give up and my message to my distinguished friends in Brussels and throughout the European Union is – to keep our promises. “We have to deliver,” Roth said.
As stated in the statement from the SEA, Deputy Prime Minister Dimitrov expressed gratitude for the action of Roth from his position to open accession negotiations with Northern Macedonia in light of the common cause for a united Europe.
