Health Minister Venko Filipche said after Friday’s meeting with the Commission for Infectious Diseases that a detailed analysis of the epidemiological questionnaires from every municipality and city should be conducted over the next couple of days, in order to have an clear picture about the manner of transmission of the virus, which will determine whether to introduce restrictive measures.
“We want to deliver these measures in line with the data we receive. Therefore, we will work over the weekend in order to produce the proper recommendation,” Minister Filipche told Sitel TV.
Regarding today’s number of new infections, he says it is quite higher compared to previous days.
“I said at the start of September that we are expecting an autumn wave and increase in the number of cases. After this weened’s analysis we will know exactly what measures to recommend in which municipality. Let me once again send an appeal to the citizens – everyone should observe the preventive measures even more consistently, because we are entering a period when the number of infections will go up,” adds Filipche.
Asked if schools could close if the number of infections rose further, he says the plan of restrictions incorporates the closure of schools and kindergartens.
“We are monitoring the situation on a daily basis, by municipality, region and city. Measures could also be targeted but this depends on the epidemiological data and the virus’ transmission in certain parts of the country,” notes Filipche.
