“The word ‘post-truth’ in 2016 is the most searched word in the ‘Oxford Dictionary’, that word is not even used in our country. That political culture is based on emotions and no one is affected by the truth anymore. Nobody cares anymore whether there is truth or not, whether something is a fact or not, everyone alludes and strikes at the emotions of the people and based on that political, military, business, criminal, social, cultural matrices, ie capacities for making huge profits “, said Xhabir Deralla at the panel discussion “Pandemic and Infodemic”, organized by CIVIL, held on December 1, 2020.
“Fake news, misinformation and hate speech are part of an organized system of production of content to stuff human consciousness, whether it is about the citizens in our country or in the world.
It is not only the media that should be updated, but also the consciousness of the people. They no longer read, listen, analyze, are not informed about new challenges.
“Institutions do not have updated methodologies on how to counter fake news, no matter how hard individuals in the government try to fight hybrid attacks and disinformation in some institutions, the system still needs to restart in order to work,” Deralla added.
