Rome, September 2025 – On Thursday, October 2, 2025 (18:30–20:30 CET), the historic venue SANTI NUMI ROMA (Viale Carlo Felice 37) will host a special evening dedicated to advancing democratic values and human rights across Europe and beyond.

The event, “Defending Democracy & Human Rights – From Recommendations to Action,” will feature the presentation of the recently published report and policy recommendations, followed by an interactive discussion and networking aperitivo.

The event is organized under the Defending Democracy Global Initiative (DDGI), which was co-founded by the New European People’s Forum (NEPF), Media Dialogue, and CIVIL – Center for Freedom, with the support of Europa Now!.

A Platform for Action

The gathering will bring together parliamentarians, policymakers, civil society leaders, journalists, and academics to explore practical steps in countering disinformation, strengthening democratic resilience, and defending human rights amid ongoing global challenges.

The event builds on the recommendations published earlier this year and aims to translate them into concrete action at both national and European levels. The discussion will focus on:

  • The role of democratic institutions in countering authoritarian influence.
  • Civil society’s strategies in defending truth and human rights.
  • Europe’s responsibility in supporting Ukraine and safeguarding democratic values globally.
