Rome – A public event titled “Defending Democracy & Human Rights – From Recommendations to Action” will take place on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at SANTI NUMI ROMA, Viale Carlo Felice 37.

The program, scheduled from 18:30 to 20:30 CET, will feature a presentation of a book with policy recommendations, followed by a discussion and networking aperitivo.

The event is part of the Defending Democracy Global Initiative (DDGI), co-founded by the New European People’s Forum (NEPF), Media Dialogue, and CIVIL – Center for Freedom, and supported by Europa Now!.

 

According to organizers, the evening will focus on practical steps for countering disinformation, strengthening democratic institutions, and defending human rights. The initiative also highlights European responsibility in supporting Ukraine at a time of growing geopolitical challenges.

The Defending Democracy Global Initiative (DDGI) brings together parliamentarians, civil society, and media representatives across Europe to promote democratic resilience and cooperation. It focuses on three main pillars: advocacy and policy-making, independent media production including the Eyes on Democracy podcast, and its flagship programme, the Westminster Alliance for Ukraine.
