Putin, the Russian inviolable autocrat, architect and instigator of the brutal aggression against Ukraine, where the Russian army and paramilitary formations assisted by the Kremlin are carrying out unseen military crimes and genocide, held a speech at the military parade in Moscow, on the occasion of May 9. For Putin, the brutal aggression against Ukraine is a “preventive attack”. He is justifying his military adventure with the need to “protect Russia from the aggression of Ukraine and the West against Russia”. According to him, it was “inevitable” and the “only right decision”.
Despite expectations that he would announce intensification of the military actions, he declared victory (with at least 20,000 soldiers killed, among which also 400 officers and 12 generals, hundreds of tanks, the sunken “Moscow” and other ships …). With endless arrogance he has expressed endless nebulous attacks against Western democracies and Ukraine. Faced with defeat on the battlefields and unanimous condemnation from the entire democratic world, he had no choice but to once again show the true face of his bloody rule that he will finish as a war criminal.
Russia and Putin have nothing to celebrate on May 9, the least as a date related to victory. They can only remember that 77 years after their victory in World War II, they are on the other side, on the side that destroys entire cities and villages, carries out war criminals and genocide, fights against peace, democracy, freedom and humanity. The day when Russia should remember the 20 million victims that all peoples within the Soviet Union gave in World War II. Among them were also Russians and Ukrainians and around fifteen other peoples. Today, May 9 is a day of shame and defeat for Russia and the Russian nation.
The Russian military aggression against Ukraine, which started in 2014, has brought defeat to Putin. Already in the first hours of the start of the full invasion on February 24, 2022, it became clear that the goal of Putin’s aggression is not just military targets, but also civilians and civilian buildings, starting from kindergartens and hospitals, up to the infrastructure necessary for a normal life.
“You are fighting for the Motherland, for its future, so that no one forgets the lessons of the Second World War. So that there is no place in the world for executioners, punishers and Nazis” – said Putin at the military parade.
The cynicism of Putin’s speech is beyond understanding. His 11-minute speech and one-minute silence will remain noticed as yet another example of hypocrisy and manipulation. Putin is relentlessly insisting on the reality that exists only in his head. Putin is ready to defend that “reality”, not with the strength of arguments, but with offensive propaganda and with the language of weapons, with ruthless destruction and extermination of the civilian population.
Putin’s army raids, destroys, burns, tortures, rapes and kills women, children and unarmed civilians. There is no victory in that. Only shame and defeat.
There is nothing more to say about the speech of the man who seized the power in Russia 23 years ago, arrests and kills those who are not like-minded and is ending his career as a war criminal.
