NEWS OF THE DAY: Wearing masks outdoors will be mandatory by law, while groups will be limited

MPs- members of the parliamentary Committee on Health, debated for more than two and a half hours on just one amendment submitted to the amendments to the Law on Protection of Population from Infectious Diseases. MPs from the ruling majority submitted five amendments to this Law, which is being adopted in a shortened procedure and whose changes are related to the measures for dealing with the coronavirus, and there are also amendments submitted by the Alliance of the Albanians and Alternativa.

The debate of the Committee, in which both the government and the opposition entered the debate on dealing with the coronavirus and the reasons for the increased number of deaths and infected persons, is expected to continue after a half-hour break due to complying to the protocols for prevention against Covid-19.

Parliament yesterday within the 19th session, with 70 votes “for”, adopted the Law on Prevention and Protection against Discrimination.

President of Inspection Council, Magdalena Filipovska-Grashkoska, at today’s press conference said that so far a total of 3,959 controls have been carried out, of which 1,436 are inspection supervision.

Ministry of Education and Science has withdrawn a fifth grade Macedonian Language textbook, due to stereotypical and discriminatory content.

Ministry of Education and Science is working on introducing media literacy in the curricula. The Bureau for Development of Education has recently been working on the introduction or preparation of curriculum that would further be included in the existing subjects.

“The Agreement on good neighbourliness with Bulgaria is the framework for resolving all misunderstandings between the two countries, issues need to be opened, and not put under the rug, and at the same time there should be sensitivity for both sides”, stated Minister of Foreign Affairs Bujar Osmani.

With the budget rebalance, the government will allocate 54 million denars for rewarding all health workers involved in the treatment of Covid-19 patients.

Minister of Labour and Social Policy Jagoda Sahpaska through a video address today on her Facebook profile outlined that the adoption of this law is especially important, above all, for the citizens.
