NEWS OF THE DAY: Maricic: To use the positive assessment in the EU Report as motivation to do even more

Minister of Justice Bojan Maricic at today’s press conference stated that the latest Report of the European Commission on the progress made by the Republic of North Macedonia is the strongest evidence of the government’s dedication to transform the state and to provide equal access to justice, equal opportunities for all and equality before the law.

“In the report, they have given us recognition for the good progress of the reforms in the judiciary as well as in the fight against corruption. At the same time, it is also concluded that the legal framework for protection of human rights in the most part is harmonized with the European standards. Our country’s efforts have increased and there are visible results both in the judiciary and in the fight against corruption and organized crime”, said Maricic.

STATEMENT OF THE DAY

President Stevo Pendarovski today addressed the Global Security Forum “GLOBSEC 2020” in Bratislava, on the topic “Western Balkans after Covid-19”.

Former Ambassador of our country to Croatia, Mahi Nesimi, has filed a private lawsuit for damages for, as he says, the consequences and injustice inflicted on him by the lustration carried out at the time of the regime, which was later annulled by law in the Parliament of the Republic of North Macedonia.

FLASH NEWS

The government has submitted to Parliament a draft law on the census, in an identical form as it was in the parliamentary procedure in the previous parliamentary composition. Minister of Justice Bojan Maricic expects the opposition to also give support for the law and for it to be timely adopted in order for the census to be carried out in April next year.

Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs Nikola Dimitrov today held an online meeting with Austrian Minister of Foreign Affairs Karoline Edstadler, at which Austria’s strong support for our EU integration was reaffirmed.

OSCE/ODIHR have come out with their findings and conclusions from the early parliamentary elections held on July 15, assessing them as effective, given the Covid-19 pandemic, negative tone of the campaign, technical challenges during election day, as well as the lack of a critical reflection among the media.

Xhaferi as a witness for the “April 27” events: Veljanovski worked according to the Rules of Procedure, without a technical possibility for excluding MPs from the podium.

On the YouTube channel Fenix A1, two new “bombs” have been posted, telephone conversations between former Minister of Interior Gordana Jankulovska, Nikola Gruevski and Ljupco Svrgovski, former prosecutor, as well as between Dragan Pavlovski Latas and then Director of the Public Revenue Office Goran Trajkovski, about the political background for the closing of the television station A1, reports NovaTV.
