NEWS OF THE DAY: Government accepts recommendations of the Commission for Infectious Diseases, hospitality facilities will work until 6.00 pm
The government, at today’s session, accepted the recommendations of the Commission for Infectious Diseases on the new set of restrictive measures and recommendations for the period December 18 – midnight January 20, with the purpose of avoiding an increasing number of COVID-19 patients.
“The measures refer to limiting the working hours of hospitality facilities, bans for organizing pre-new Year and New Year celebrations outdoors and indoors, and we have clear recommendations to the religious communities, working organizations and municipalities, recommendations for the work of restaurants in hotels”, stated today Prime Minister Zoran Zaev at the joint press conference with Minister of Health Venko Filipce.
Hospitality facilities will work until 6.00 pm, instead of 9.00 pm as was until now with the decisions.

“The situation with the coronavirus remains stable, but there still are many infected and hospitalized people. In average, last week there were around 1300 or 1400 patients treated in hospitals, hospitals further remain under great pressure, but there are continuously vacant beds, practically this entire period of more than a week the number of vacant hospital beds has been constant, which means that the area of hospitalization is well managed. There are about 150 free beds on the territory of the country”, stated Minister of Health Venko Filipce at today’s press conference.
The government will not use the opportunity for reaching an agreement with the plaintiffs against the state in relation to the nine cases that refer to the current criminal proceedings for illegal wiretapping.
About 300,000 citizens who will receive 6,000 denars as one-time support from the state will be able to use the money even after the anticipated deadline of December 25, 2020, informs the government.
Respect for fundamental human rights and rights guaranteed by the Constitution and ratified by international agreements, implementation of the principle of equality, elimination of stereotypes on gender roles, prevention of all forms of gender-based violence against women, domestic violence and determination of measures and activities for protection of victims of gender-based violence and domestic violence, adoption of a program for reintegration of victims, has the purpose, among else, also the Draft Law on Prevention and Protection Against Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence, which was today subject of public debate of the Committee for equal rights and opportunities for women and men.
Minister of Justice Bojan Maricic announced that the preparation of the new law on mediation is in the final phase.
The Economic investment plan for the Western Balkans is a new stimulus for economic growth, was highlighted at the session of the National Investment Committee that was chaired by Prime Minister Zoran Zaev together with EU Ambassador David Geer.
