NEWS OF THE DAY: Government adopts budget rebalance for realization of fourth package of measures to assist citizens and the economy
The government at yesterday’s session adopted the budget rebalance for 2020. This is the second rebalance this year, resulting from the need to implement the fourth package of measures for assisting the citizens, the economy and the macroeconomic stability.
-This rebalance allows for the fourth package of anti-crisis measures to be implemented, which has the purpose to provide sustainability of domestic economic activities and jobs, to assist certain affected activities, to provide stability of social transfers and to provide policies that will assist in the implementation of a quick exit strategy, with the purpose of – when the crisis ends, continuing with the positive trends of the new developing Macedonian economy, said Minister of Finance Fatmir Besimi at today’s press conference where he presented the budget rebalance.
He added that according to the revised projections of the Ministry of Finance, upon which the second budget rebalance is made, returning on the path of economic development is expected to be slower in relation to the previous projections.
-Expectations are that the economy will mark a decline by 4.4 percent in 2020. It should be mentioned that the decline would have been higher, taking into consideration the fourth set of measures. The inflation rate has also been revised, which is expected to be 1%, said Besimi.
