NEWS OF THE DAY: Everyone will be included in the new concept for primary education, announced Carovska
The concept has been prepared by relevant university professors and teachers who are directly involved in the teaching now and can see the challenges. University professors together with teachers have jointly built a vision on what kind of a teaching concept primary education should have in our country. The most relevant are pedagogues and psychologists. This was announced today by Minister of Labour and Social Policy Mila Carovska at a press conference, where the new concept for primary education was presented.
Replying to a journalist question in regards to history and geography to remain as separate subjects, Minister Carovska pointed out that she believes in transparency and added that best decisions are made through discussions. Following today’s presentation on this concept, she announced that a public debate is starting, while the document will be publically available and all relevant will be able to give their comment.
– However, the most important thing is that all profiles who further need to create curricula, such as historians, geographers, will be able to directly apply for the competition, to participate in the preparation of the curricula. We will also lead this process transparently. There should be no concern that someone might not be involved. Everyone will be involved, because this is a significant process for our country. This is a significant process for the education system, but also for the economy and the future of the country, stressed Carovska.
STATEMENT OF THE DAY: Carovska: We will not allow for there to be textbooks with explicit stereotypical and discriminatory content
“There are short interventions, we have already done this by withdrawing some textbooks that had clear and explicit content that is not suitable in the education, but also a new concept is being prepared for students that is to follow along with this concept, and that is the third phase of preparing materials that are regulated by regulations that determine how textbooks are adopted”, replied Minister of Education and Science Mila Carovska to CIVIL Media’s question as to whether and how the Ministry of Education and Science and the Bureau for Development of Education plan to deal with some of the teaching and expert staff in schools, who, directly or indirectly, are conveying to students and parents content with nationalist messages, and are not part of the curricula.
