The conference is the final event of the project “The Greens are coming”, which is being implemented with long – time partners of CIVIL, the Heinrich Bǒll Foundation.
STATEMENT OF THE DAY: Marion Kraske: Green transition as the only response
What are we doing on a daily basis? We are producing and using an unnecessarily large amount of gasoline, oil, coal and natural gas we burn every day to heat our homes, to power our vehicles, manufacture goods and provide electricity. If you use the Application AIR Visual – you can see where we are with these activities…it´s a worldwide smog application. Sarajevo /Skopje are in fact under the top 10 of the most polluted capitals worldwide. This fossil approach has failed since we are destroying our own living space. In fact, we are endangering our lives – and those of our children”, said Marion Kraske. According to her, the answer to all this is green transition.
“But green transition means much more than just the technical shift from coal or oil to wind or sun. To renewables. It means a real, comprehensive shift in the general mindset. Green means nothing more and nothing less than sustainable, caring. It means: I do care. Caring for our children, caring for the next generations. Caring for the planet”, stated Marion Kraske from the Heinrich Bǒll Foundation, Director of the regional office for BiH, North Macedonia and Albania at the conference “The Greens Are Coming 2020: green values, social justice and antinationalism, organized by CIVIL.
What we need are sustainable approaches in all segments to find concrete solutions for the global challenge of climate change: Creative public transport and smart city solutions; Promoting clean, green energy to replace coal and nuclear plants (ultimate goal is clear- decarbonisation); Healthy food, healthy animals; Economic goals are: To boost environmentally-friendly energy; By doing this: Creating green new jobs; Fighting smog – strongly connected to climate change

FLASH NEWS
The Security Council proposed to the government to declare a state of crisis on the territory of the entire country for 30 days, due to the situation with the coronavirus in the country, announced today President Stevo Pendarovski. The state of crisis is legally regulated and, among else, includes the involvement of the Army as support to the police, as well as of the private health care institutions in dealing with Covid-19.
Declaring a state of crisis on the territory of the entire country could happen no later than tomorrow night, and perhaps even sooner, announced today Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, after the Security Council proposed to the government to do so. This period is especially critical. We expect a period during which the number of newly-diagnosed Covid-19 patients will be linear. Meaning a critical period is ahead of us, during which hospital capacities will be needed, said Minister of Health Venko Filipce following the session of the Security Council.
