STATEMENT OF THE DAY Byrnes: These weapons will strengthen the interoperability, not only with the US, but also with other NATO forces
Byrnes: Thank you Minister Sekerinska and General Nuredin for being here with me today to mark the donation of 1269 automatic rifles worth 1.2 million US Dollars, as support to the Light Infantry Battalion Group. This is another example of how we work together in order to be sure that our forces, when they will fight together, and when they will train together, will be interoperable, and these rifles will strengthen the interoperability, not only with the US, but also with other NATO forces.
And, as we have heard from the leaders, this will be very important and will have influence in further activities. This is one more proof of our long-time defense cooperation, which is further strengthened with the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation in the area of the defence last week, but this is also a commitment of your country for modernizing the Macedonian Army, stated US Ambassador Kate Marie Byrnes at the handing over of the US donation of 1,269 automatic M-4 rifles for the needs of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia.
CIVIL ACTIVITIES
CIVIL panel in Stip: The census is statistics, not politics
CIVIL is organizing a panel discussion on the topic “Census: Statistics, not politics“ on March 4 2021 (Thursday), Hotel “Oaza” in Stip starting at 4.00 pm.
In compliance to the measures for protection against Covid-19, the panel discussion will be held without an audience, but will be broadcast live on CIVIL’s Facebook page, while the content resulting from the panel discussion will be published on the organization’s media platform in Macedonian, Albanian and English. Special videos will be published on CIVIL’s YouTube channel. As always, editorials with which CIVIL cooperates are invited to download all media content with an according attribution and link.
The focus of the panel discussion is on the need to separate politics from statistics, as that is what the census is – a statistical operation, and not a ground for ethno-political quarrels. It is important that the public also hears the views of the Stip participants in the panel discussion who, among else, will be given space to also share some basic information on the course of the preparations for the census, as well as its meaning for the development of the municipalities, economy and building politics and practices at the local and national level.
