NEWS OF THE DAY: Countries of the Western Balkans in Sofia sign declarations on Common Regional Market and Green Agenda
The leaders of the Western Balkans, participants in today’s Summit held in Sofia within the framework of the Berlin Process, today signed the Declaration on Common Regional Market for deeper regional economic integration and a stepping stone towards EU Single Market, and the Declaration on the Green Agenda, which have been prepared and harmonized in the year when the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Bulgaria are co-hosts of the process.
In the Declaration of the leaders of the Western Balkans on a Common Regional Market, the uniting commitment is transformation of the region in line with the EU rules and standards, with the purpose of strengthening the competitiveness of the region in order to bring closer the standards of the EU Single Market.
In supporting the realization of this goal, the comprehensive Economic and Investment Plan for the Western Balkans for projects in manufacturing sectors and sustainable infrastructure has a key role, as a necessary contribution in order to define the common future of the region in the EU for prosperity of the citizens and companies, which strive to enjoy the same freedoms as companies and citizens in the European Union.
STATEMENT OF THE DAY: Zaev: The co-hosting of the Berlin Process worked on implementing numerous activities aimed towards cooperation
The Leaders Summit for the Western Balkans began in Sofia today, which this year is co-hosted by the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia.
“For me, and I believe for all of us as well, this is evidence that the region has strongly accepted this process as its own. At the same time, it has provided an exceptional platform for further fostering of our relations. This Summit takes place in times of a pandemic, and all of us are struggling with enormous challenges for protection of our citizens and preventing difficult economic disruptions. In such circumstances, the co-hosting of the Berlin Process in the past several months worked on implementing numerous activities aimed at maintaining an energetic cooperation in many areas and on achieving visible and tangible results”, said Zaev at a press conference at the Western Balkans Summit within the Berlin Process.
