I congratulate the holiday – Albanian Alphabet Day to all members of the Albanian community and to all citizens. Let’s celebrate together and celebrate the existence and rapprochement of cultural traditions, which have been presentin this area for centuries, says Prime Minister Zoran Zaev in the congratulation on the occasion of Albanian Alphabet Day.
– The unity and care that we offer to each other are a guarantee for our secure and prosperous, European future. Let’s celebrate and honor the ethnic and linguistic diversity of our society as our advantage. As our common treasure, points out Zaev.
With the proclamation of November 22 as Albanian Alphabet Day, adds Zaev, and the commemoration of this significant holiday for the Albanian community as an integral part of the linguistic and cultural treasure of North Macedonia, we reaffirm that language and alphabet are bridges for understanding between traditions, cultures and spiritual heritage.
– Our Macedonian values call us to that, which at the same time are also European and with which we are moving on the EU integrationpath. Celebrating cultural values, events and traditions of all ethnic communities, including the Albanian, is in the essence, the basis of our multicultural society. It is a strong contribution to a prosperous future and to the wellbeing of all citizens, said Zaev.
He adds that our commitment is to build and foster a society equal for all and to build a civil society while at the same time respecting ethnic, national, religious and cultural differences. That is the uniqueness and essence of our unity that has been built for centuries and that represents an obligation for our common future.
Zaev reminds that on this day in 1908, the Bitola Congress ended in Bitola, at which the Albanian standardized alphabet was created. The Congress was convened on November 14 and was attended by delegates from Macedonia, Albania and from Albanian communities in Romania, Egypt, America, Greece, Turkey, Italy and other countries.
