The International Literature Festival Berlin called on all individuals, institutions, schools and media that advocate for human rights, to participate in the worldwide reading of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, in order to support and strengthen the concept of human rights in the world, on September 6, 2017.
CIVIL –Center for Freedom, an organization whose vision and mission is to actively promote and defend human rights and freedoms, is organizing an open event under the slogan “CIVILians with messages and poetry on human rights” for marking this day by reading the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and poetry. The event will be held on September 6, in front of the organization’s offices, on Maksim Gorki street, No.31, starting at 4:30pm. CIVIL invites all citizens, activists and the media to join the event and to obtain a copy of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. CIVIL will also start a discussion on the Internet, and will be broadcasting the event live on its Facebook page.
The International Literature Festival Berlin calls upon all cultural and political institutions, schools, universities, media and individuals throughout the world to join the reading of the Declaration, and to afterwards discuss the 30 articles that make up the Declaration.
This event aims to remind every individual and every institution, that is, the entire society, about the need for all of us to jointly strive towards promoting human rights and freedoms.
On the occasion of the recent death of writer, human rights activist and Nobel Peace Laureate Liu Xiaobo, the International Literature Festival Berlin also calls for a reading of Charter 08, manifesto of 360 intellectuals of China, published in 2008, on December 10, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
CIVIL will join this worldwide action to respect and promote the universal human rights and freedoms, reminding once again on the decade-long struggle against a regime dedicated to sophisticated usurpation of the civic space and freedom of expression of every individual in Macedonia.
With the changes in the social and political scene in the country, CIVIL tomorrow will remind that the fight for social, political and individual liberation is still not over.
